“Computers are like a bicycle for our minds.” — Steve Jobs
As a former technology journalist, I have been casting around for something novel to say about Steve Jobs, and for the most part have been coming up empty. Then I remembered reviewing this TV movie “Pirates of Silicon Valley” the story of the founding and feuding of Apple and Microsoft, when it came out in 1999. It’s an early version of the story told in The Social Network, but with truly iconic characters, flashes of genius and transformative technology. It also helps that Noah Wylie is an excellent stand in for Jobs and the actor who plays Steve Ballmer is also a dead ringer. If you like the trailer, you can watch the rest of the movie on YouTube as well.
